Pay Offer – 2020/21

Negotiations have taken much longer than we would have expected, and longer than would normally be acceptable. Given the unique circumstances we all find ourselves in due to the national pandemic, some delay was perhaps understandable but nevertheless unwelcome, given the speed that lecturing staff pay negotiations were concluded.

In terms of pay, the initial offer issued to support staff unions by the employers was significantly less in real terms than our colleagues in lecturing had been offered and was rejected immediately by your UNISON negotiating team. Negotiations since have centred around ensuring that the pay offer which is issued to support staff is meaningful and material.

We are now is a position to put this offer to you and will liaise with local stewards teams to organise a series of meetings in every college to discuss the offer with you and explain the ballot process. We are hopeful that meetings can take place week commencing 15th of February.
